Join the fight against plastic pollution

Did you know an estimated 26 million tons of plastic pollution ends up in the oceans each year killing millions of marine creatures?

Our SEA LIFE attractions across the globe hold regular beach cleans to combat this issue at a local level which you can sign up to take part in.

This #earthmonth🌍 we are encouraging you to help tackle this huge problem as we work together to protect and care for our precious earth.

Here’s our top 5 tips on how you can help reduce climate change and help save our wonderful planet;

  1. Reduce, reuse and recycle

Reduce, reuse, and recycle are three concepts that promote sustainable living. They help decrease the amount of waste we throw away that often ends up in landfill.

You can make many changes in your daily life to reduce the amount of waste you produce and live more sustainably. Some ways to help are by purchasing less disposable plastics, reusing plastic bottles and containers rather than buying new and upcycling where possible; clothes, furniture and many other household and lifestyle items can be recycled.

  1. Educate young people

By educating young people and teaching them to reduce plastic pollution as part of their daily lives we can ensure that future generations live a naturally more sustainable life which will in turn protect the planets long term survival.

  1. Conserve water

Conserving water ultimately conserves energy which in turn reduces our carbon footprint. We can do this several ways including not leaving the tap running unnecessarily when washing up or brushing our teeth, loading full baskets of washing and reducing food waste.

  1. Shop sustainable products where possible

Buy organic produce to reduce the amount of pesticides and herbicides entering the plant and shop sustainable brands and avoid throw-away fashion where possible. Selling or donating used clothing is also a good way to divert waste from landfills.

  1. Plant a tree!

Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere by creating oxygen which is essential to our survival. Deforestation is one of the main issues affecting climate change, therefore proactively plating new trees is a good way to combat this and fix our planet.
