Touchpools

Rockpools are teeming with life

Are you brave enough to touch a spiny sea urchin or sea star at our Interactive Touchpool Exhibit?

Many different creatures live in these shallow pools – they all need to be tough to adapt to different temperatures and waves crashing over them!

Most sea stars have 5 arms but some species can have up to 24! Sea stars have hundreds of little tube feet which they use to walk, stick to rocks and respire!

Our sea urchins will move their spines to "shake your finger" when you touch them in our Interactive Touchpool Experience!

Most starfish have 5 arms but some species can have up to 24! Starfish have hundreds of little tube feet which they use to walk, stick to rockfaces and respire!
